I have a fetish for photographs with narrow depth of fields. I love the blurred background and the clear details in my main subject. This photograph was taken under the title of prehistoric landscape. My first reaction to prehistoric landscape was monuments, sculptures, and even museum. Prehistoric, to my understanding was an era which existed even before handwriting had been invented yet. So the big question was: how could I produce a prehistoric landscape even when it is the past?
Since prehistoric is connected with the past, I figured out to produce a scene where it is a piece of my past. I am sure everyone knows about the story of Cinderella. The scene of her fleeing away from the palace at 12 midnight in the pumpkin carriage is vivid in my mind. I took this photo inspired by Cinderella in an attempt to bring my childhood back into photographs. Using a large aperture of 4.5, I wanted the background to be blurry so that only the main subject is in focus.
I also decreased the tone temperature to evoke a nostalgic feeling in the photograph. How I wish I have a macro lens in order to make the keychain larger and more animated for a juxtaposition between the reality and my imagination. Such dream will definitely come true one day. I really need to start saving now.
